MIMP Health Check Plus+

MIMP NHS Health Check Plus+ is a free, comprehensive health check designed to help you prevent serious health problems before they develop.

It incorporates the NHS Health Check for those who are eligible (aged 40–74), while for those who are not eligible for the NHS Health Check—for example, patients under 40 or with specific risk factors—we offer MIMP Plus+ tests, tailored to detect early health issues in at-risk individuals.

At Manchester Integrative Medical Practice, we provide accessible, culturally sensitive checks for all our patients, including those with limited English, diverse diets, higher health risks, or a family history of health conditions.

For patients under 40 who are at increased risk due to family history, ethnicity, obesity, or other health conditions, MIMP Plus+ can identify early problems that standard NHS Health Checks do not cover.

You are eligible if you:
– Are aged 40–74 – you will receive the full NHS Health Check plus any additional MIMP Plus+ tests relevant to your risks
– Are under 40 or not eligible for the standard NHS Health Check – you can still access MIMP Plus+ tests if you are considered at risk due to: Family history of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, or prostate problems
– Ethnicity (higher-risk groups include African, Caribbean, South Asian, and Middle Eastern backgrounds)
– Obesity or high BMI
– Lifestyle factors such as smoking, alcohol, or diet
– Live in the Greater Manchester area
During MIMP NHS Health Check Plus+, we assess:
– Blood pressure – risk of heart disease and stroke
– Cholesterol levels – cardiovascular risk
– Blood sugar levels – detection of non-diabetic hyperglycaemia or diabetes risk
– Body Mass Index (BMI) and waist measurement – obesity and related health risks
– Lifestyle factors – smoking, alcohol, diet, and physical activity
– Kidney function and heart health – via blood and urine tests
– Risk assessment for heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and liver disease – using NHS risk calculators
– Family history review – to identify inherited risk for:
–Heart disease
–Stroke
–Diabetes
–Kidney disease
–Liver disease
–Prostate problems

Additional MIMP Plus+ tests for higher-risk patients (including those under 40):
– PSA (prostate-specific antigen) testing – for men over 55 or younger men at higher risk due to family history or ethnicity
– Urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR) – early kidney damage and cardiovascular risk
– FIB-4 score calculation – early liver fibrosis detection
– Full Blood Count (FBC), iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12 testing – detects anaemia, nutritional deficiencies, and general health issues
These additional tests allow early detection of problems for at-risk patients under 40 as well as those in the standard NHS Health Check age range.
